ARC exhibition

Its graduation time for the Visual Arts and Design students of TAFE NSW Lismore. After a tumultuous year of ongoing disruptions, students will be celebrating their years’ work at the Serpentine Gallery in Conway St Lismore.
Lismore TAFE Campus was submerged during February’s record-breaking floods causing major losses to campus resources and equipment. Students and staff were moved into a temporary studio space at Southern Cross University in May where regular classes resumed.
Now 9 months on, both Advanced Diploma and Diploma of Visual Arts students and the graduates from the Diploma of Graphic Design will showcase their creations in a group show entitled Arc at the Serpentine Community Gallery. The gallery is now located at 104 Conway st Lismore.
Students, labelling themselves “submerging” artists, have embraced their circumstances with an attitude of tenacity and look forward to ending a tough year on a positive note.
Many of the works will exhibit a strong emphasis on the traditional skills the college is well known for, while others will push more innovative and contemporary strategies. Visitors to the exhibition will see oil painting, printmaking, sculpture and a range of brilliant graphic designs. Students have developed bodies of work around the themes of environment, identity, family and other concerns.
Everyone is welcome and works will be for sale.
